Private/Public to Commons/Personal
The private as benefiting capital (control of labor, productive assets) extending to the privacy of the individual (association, family).
The public established as a space of mitigation, accountability between private entities, markets.
Commons as a reorientation of production away from private to be more akin to public.
Personal as a reorientation of the indivdual away from private association.
The personal as self-expression is appealing to me. The manner in which one carries themself, chooses to interact with others, which activities to participate in, are largely in the realm of what I'd call "personal." Personal connection, familial relations, I'd extend as "personal." An internal life. The site of transduction.
The commons I see as a space in which people enter into associations that are commonly understood, commonly defined, commonly established. Not as private enterprises, organizations, or other whims of private capital, but organic, self-actualized sites of productive capacity towards commonly understood goals. Direction. Flow. In some ways, akin to emotional regulation.
I only see it possible with a commons to actualize commonly understood goals i.e. degrowth. As Simondon warns this isn't just a matter of property relations (Marx) and opposing classes, but a culture that lacks signification of technical objects (a capacity for relation, analogical and intuitive grasping). Commons education is education in logistics, technical application, systems thinking.
Perhaps the commons is a byproduct of capitalist production. The capitalist-driven socialization of production has reached international (planetary) scale. The great bourgeois scientific projects showcase international-scale cooperation of productive elements towards goals.
It's a tragedy there's such a conceptual cleave between private bourgeois interests and public bourgeois interests.

I think this would in part mean the establishment of a commons knowledge that is presently carved up and privatized under capitalist production. As Bernard Stiegler called technics, "tertiary memory."
Perhaps I should say it is already established and being established. Simondon talks about Encyclopaedism and the different stages it has gone through, and his understanding that a new Encyclopaedism would be established for the information age.
